The company
JOMAR Machining & Fabricating (web-site: www.4jomar.com) is a manufacturer of Tire Shredding equipment.
The shredded tires are used for:
- playgrounds,
- football fields
- and many other applications.
Goals and challenges
Jomar had the need to monitor the equipment remotely for the purpose of monitoring production without having to be onsite 24/7.
Jomar first implemented the Ewon eFive VPN server to be hosted at Jomar and the Ewon Flexy which was installed at the site of the machine location. A SCADA was placed behind the eFive and would poll the PLCs directly through the VPN. This architecture proved to be complicated to expand so Jomar asked Ewon if they had any other alternatives they should consider.
Rilheva solves
Jomar was introduced to Rilheva and quickly went to work adding tags to the Flexy which sent data to the Ewon Talk2M Datamailbox which is where Rilheva pulls the logged data from.
Since connecting a Flexy to Talk2M is so much easier than connecting to a personal VPN server, this solution proved to be easier to expand upon. Since the initial installation, Jomar has been successfully monitoring 5 different PLCs connected to one Flexy on one machine to several other customer sites which have similar needs.
